The writer of the book of Psalm says, “l look to the Mountains, where will my help come from”? And he went further to answer himself saying, “my help will come from the Lord, who made Heaven and Earth” (Psalm: 121 verse 1&2). David acknowledged that his help comes from God, the maker of Heaven and Earth.
Naturally it is believed that each time one is faced with any challenge in life, he will look up to God for help. We cannot look down the ground the moment we are faced with any problem. This is because it is from above, our Lord Jesus Christ that our solution will come from. We must always look up to the one who is greater than we are, for solution.
Looking down in times of any storm will not yield us any benefit because we are above the ground we cannot look for help where we are above rather we go for help where we can obtain one, which is from above, where God lives.
Now the question is this, do we truly look up to Heaven (God) for our help? Or do we go to President, Governor, our Community Leaders etc for our help. No doubt, they can be of help to us, but l tell you unless you go to God first for help, there will be nothing the listed above can do for you. You can have several relations abroad, doing well, but my brethren unless you go to God for help, l tell you again, they can do nothing for you. It is only God that will minister to any of His children to help you out.
Or do you believe that it is by your own strength, by your own experience or connection you can make it, all lies. unless God shows you mercy, no amount of struggle, connection or experience will grant you help. We have no option in life than to embrace God because it is from Him that mercies and goodness are shown upon us. Let us love God with all our strength and might so that God in His proper time will bless us. God is the key holder of all blessings, therefore let us look up to Him always for our help. God is capable of giving us all good things like wealth, knowledge, protection and connection but it will be possible only when we look up to Him.
Societally, if we look around, we will see young men and women looking for help from here and there without looking up to God. According to the book of Psalm: 24, we are told that, “The World and all that is in it belong to God and that the earth and all who live on it are His”. So, why then do we look for help where there is none. It is wise to just look up to God for all our helps. All the young men and women that seek help, protection and connection from unapproved quarters, what guarantee do you have to get solution to your problems. All you need to do is just to love God and obey His laws, and you will see yourself making it in life. God promised us in Psalm: 91 verse 14, that He will save those who love him. It doesn’t take much to love God and to obey his commands. It’s all about self decision and to be patient upon the Lord.
Yes, to be patient with God is a very good virtue that people don’t like to hear. Everyone is trying to run faster than his/her shadow. Do you know anything concerning your life?, do you know what your destiny holds for you. Patient, my brethren l say patient please. It always pays to wait on the Lord. Do not be unmindful of the speed people pursue money these days, allow your help to come from God. When you beckon on God for help, He will not just help you, He will keep you safe from danger, He will allow light to shine upon you and your household. When you wait on the Lord for your help, surely He will fight for you and prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. God the Almighty, will never allow shame or reproach to come near your dwelling place.
When we allow our help to come from God, l assure you of God’s wealth with calmness. You will enjoy your youth and your old age with peace of mind. Do you know that, most men and women in our society who refused to look up to God for help are living lives of regrets today. What does it profit a man to gain the world’s wealth and connection without having Christ as Father. Call upon Him sincerely and you will see the Mightiness of God’s hand. Oh, l know waiting upon the Lord sometimes is not easy but with perseverance, you will win the race. Sometimes, people imagine in their hearts why the unrighteous prosper more than those that wait upon the Lord, God himself knows all these, no wonder He told us in Isaiah 44 verse 6, that “The Lord, who rules and protects you, the Lord Almighty, has this to say to us. “I am the first, the last and the only God, there is no other god but me”. Could anyone else have done what I did? Who could have predicted all that would happen from the very beginning to the end of time?. That God formed us in our mothers’ womb, kept us alive from the beginning of our lives till date without our own help demands our proper looking upon Him for our future’s sake.
Naturally, we cannot do anything for ourselves without God’s help. So my beloved in the Lord, let us continue looking up to God for our salvation and glorification. Why do we put our trust in a man, in the world and on material things, when our Father in heaven is beckoning unto us to come to Him. Let us put our eyes off the earthly things that do not last forever and focus on the immaterial things of life, our soul for an example.
Let the poor and rich in the society begin to acknowledge God and concentrate on the indestructible things of life. A call to serve God is now. Looking around the world, we will be rest assured that the end is with us. So, is it not wise for us to be associated with God who owns both life and death. Oh, my goodness, each time l remember that, one day l shall be gone to the journey of no return, tears flow down my cheeks, yet it will come one day. No amount of tears will stop the journey of death. This is because it has come to people before me and it will come to people after me. So despite the tears, the most important thing is that once there is life today, there will be death tomorrow!!!. Sometimes l remember the sweet and lovable ones l have lost in death and l go inside myself and wonder the real meaning of this life without making peace with God. And in death, the living go ahead making merriments without realizing that one day they shall also become like the just buried.
Are you facing hardship, look up to God, are you bothering about your unpaid house rent, unpaid school fees, worries here and there, let us be courageous, God is aware of all the troubles, our diligent looking up to God for our help will surely help us.
We have no option, you know!!! And if one thinks there is an option outside there without Christ, am afraid, it may mar his/her future’s hope of salvation.
Fear not my dear, that you are alive today is enough reason for you to continue to look up to God. Don’t be afraid that your mates may have gone far beyond you. Keep looking up to God, no hurry in life, is someone mocking you that you have not done this or that, worry not, the same Lord who prospered and did it for them that believed in Him, is still available to uplift you in His own proper time. All you need to do is just to look up to God always, acknowledge and honour Him for the miracles in your life. God so much love a grateful heart. Thank Him for the ones He has done and He will do more for you again and again. That’s why we call Him Odogwu Akataga!!!.Oma mma, Oma mma….
