Governor Uzodinma’s epic judicial battle which has enlisted Imo as an off-cycle governorship election State may have further enriched and spiced up his resume as a strategic and consummate political striker.
Though, Uzodimma’s brand of politics is both classic and hypersonic; it is beyond the usual and common type, played by most regulars in our divide. He, certainly has a peculiar way of measuring the political compass of a setting; its direction and dimensions, wavelength and velocity vis-a-vis the given and the unknown (X) in mathematical formula of Nigerian politics.
Little wonder, he keeps outsmarting his contemporaries in this game of politics.
Anyways, no matter how complex and ambiguous, his method of solving for (X) may seem, he has always made the correct answer by winning all his preferred elections.
Whether, it is by providence or hardwork, he has been largely successful with his profound vision and governance goals.
On assumption to office as Imo governor on January 15, 2020; as expected, he was met with enormous challenges designed to cause him political injuries and mishaps, widening his limitations and deepening his frustrations in order to decolourise and crumble his indomitable political empire.
Indeed, those trying moments left many including yours sincerely, doubting his abilities to ‘still the troubling storm’ and retrieve the highly infested and volatile Imo from the precipice. Truly, it was that bad!
Beaten the roadblocks and the landmines within months, Governor Uzodimma, rose to the occasion and took firm-hold of his governence and occupied the spaces with his team of very competent persons hired from across, the different walks of life and soon, Imo began to change and transform to glory with most of its lost structures, destroyed fabrics, stolen institutions and monuments, recovered.
Indeed, Uzodimma brought creativity and ingenuity into governance, especially on revenue generation, infrastructure development and State-building in Imo.
For instance, It is a commendable feat that under Uzodimma’s administration, Imo State has been earning humongous amount of money from the World Bank programme of State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) and more impressively too, Imo State is rated the best in the Southeast on this programme.
According to reputable and trusted sources, Imo State became qualified for this earnings because it parades a yearly budget that is community-based where the people make inputs, the physically challenged, the less privileged and the vulnerable captured and most importantly, budgets that can be accessed online by the World Bank and all those who are interested in its performance.
And, with this and many other unlisted strides, the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) became jerked up into multi-million naira bracket; making the hitherto impoverished State better viable, economically. I am certain that his success secret is dexterity and tenacity, driven by strength of will and firmness of purpose.
His wise creations and reconstitutions of numerous missing and leaking government institutions and structures have actually enabled new sense of political value and purpose to the meaning and practice of governance in the State.
Yet, in addition to the pertinent need for sustenance of these classic and enviable introductions; there is an urgent need to introduce civility in the psyche of the government life led by government agencies and their representatives such as the ENTRACO, State Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO’s) and some others whose overzealousness have cost the government untold damages. They seriously need reorientation and rebranding.
Though, the fair skin-complexioned governor is a man of many parts, titles and appellations yet he is a man of few words, loaded with active and manifest capacities.
Senator Hope Uzodimma, is admired by a set for his tenacity and audacity in the face of challenges, he has become a metaphor of sort for a new brand of politics and philosophical discipline.
While, he is held in high esteem by many whose political lives depend largely on him, some others equally disliked him probably because they believe that his rare political attainment and achievement inhibits, shades, dims or diminishes their political chances. Some also dislike him for his vast riches and boldness towards propagating his political interest.
Anyways and whichever way, the truism is that Senator Uzodimma has grown in stature and eminence, first, in Imo politics and secondly on the national front.
Believably, the admixture of dexterity, deep political calculations and sheer opportunism must have been Uzodimma’s tools for building bridges of favour that earned him political leverages to prominence.
Definitely, the grace of God is indeed, sufficient for Governor Uzodimma and His Power is manifest upon him as his situation was synonymous to that of the Biblical Paul as recorded in 2Corinthians 12: 9-10; “And He said unto me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
No doubt, the elements of verse 10 of same chapter nerved Uzodimma with colossal confidence nerved to face the troubled times squarely, “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
