To mark the 2021 World Youth Day, the Youth Aid Development Initiative (YAD-i) has called on the youths of Imo State to be useful and proactive.
Speaking when the YAD-i team visited Oguta Lake today to clean up the environ of the lake to mark the event yesterday, the Founder, Anita Udeh noted that since the organization is youth based, they decided to commemorate the world Youth Day by working with youths of Oguta to clean up the Oguta Lake environ.
She hinted that when Oguta lake is clean and attractive, it will generate revenue for both the host community and government, attract local and foreign investors, create employment opportunities especially for the youths, serve as tourist destination for fun seekers and facilitate infrastructural development for sustained better living condition.
In commemoration of world youth day and in line with Leapafrica Youth Day of Service 2021 tagged Youthful and Useful, She posited that the youths must be youthful and useful to be able to harness their potentials for greater benefits to the society. It would be recalled that International Youth Day is celebrated annually on 12 August to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.
Anita appreciated Crystal Lake Resort and Tours for their support to the realization of the project of cleaning up Oguta lake, adding that the organization remained grateful and assured the hotel of future engagement for the betterment of the host community. “The support of the hotel has shown that it understands its community social responsibility role.
She applauded members of the team who made out time to clean up the Oguta, especially the youths of the area coordinated by CREESOD executive director, Christain Okororie. She urged the youths to continue to be creative and organize themselves to achieve greater heights.
