Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Wednesday, handed out about one hundred security vehicles to security agencies to enable them tackle headlong, the recent security challenges witnessed in the state.
The governor declared a zero tolerance for crime and criminality and disclosed that the state government had also ordered some Armoured Personnel Careers that will arrive the state in few days time, adding that he will reactivate Imo State Vigilante outfit to compliment effort of Operation Search and Flush.
“Let me therefore use this suspicious occasion to declare a total war against crime, criminality and their sponsors. From now onwards, Imo State shall be no go area for criminals. We shall take the war to their doorsteps” he stated
The governor gave security agents marching orders to search all places where illicit drugs are sold and flush them out, warning that any landlord who avails his house to criminals and smokers of illicit drugs will be answerable to the law.
“In like manner, any political leader on whose domain criminals abide, who fails to report same to the authorities will be held accountable. We can no longer tolerate a situation where our state is being used as a breeding heaven for criminals.
“To you the officers of security agencies, I want to assure you that the government of Imo State is 100 percent solidly behind you. Do whatever it will take within your rules of engagement to flush out criminals in the state
“To the good people of Imo State, I say to you, you are safe. Go about your lawful businesses without fear of any molestation. Your safety is guaranteed and I can assure you that as you go about your lawful businesses, the government has the responsibility to provide enabling environment, which indeed, includes security”.
