The Interim Management Chairman of Owerri North local Government Area, Engr. Lams Ibe has cautioned workers of the local government against absenteeism.

He posited that absenteeism will no longer be tolerated, while extolling the Governor who has always kept to his promise of prompt payment of salary, especially appreciating him for the thirteenth months salary paid to Imo workers last December.

He equally warned the staff of the LGA to shun absenteeism and lateness to work.

He also frowned at the system of coming late to work and living early, stating that he will take drastic measures to ensure that this negative trends stops abruptly, stressing that defaulters will be punished accordingly.

In response some of the staff said that why some of them are absent from duty is because they have no office accommodation.

The IMC Chairman promised to seek for a way to solve the pending problem.

Responding on behalf of the staff, the director of administrator and general services, Barr Emeka Obuah used the opportunity to thank the LGA chairman and the executive governor of Imo state for deeming it necessary to pay them their salaries and even paying them the thirteenth months.

He promised on behalf of the staff to reciprocate the kind gesture of his excellency by coming to work regurlary and on time too and promised that the staff will turn a new leaf.

The Interim management chairman further directed the management and the staff to ensure that the workers sign their names in the attendance register, noting that it will be dully checked by him.

In the course of the meeting, the chairman asked the workers whether all of them have received the December salary and the thirteenth months which the governor paid them.

Almost all the staff except few who said they have not received theirs.
