The Interim Management chairman of Oru West LGA in Imo State, Hon. Willie TC Okolieogwo had commended the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for the massive ongoing road construction especially the 5km road project in each of the 27 local government councils in the state making it over 135km across the LGAs in the state.

Speaking to News Echo, Okolieogwo maintained that the rural road project embarked by the governor which will be completed before the end of 2022 is in fulfilment of his 3 mantra administration of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery.
He stated that the governor is living up to his mandate of ensuring that all the bad roads in the state wear new look.

The LG boss who doubles as the Imo state ALGON chairman disclosed that the governor has promised to deliver quality roads as dividends of democracy hence the resources that have been put together to ensure that the contractors do a quality construction on the roads and to deliver quality roads as quickly as possible.

“The governor is making sure the roads in Imo are wearing new look, he will take off on the roads simultaneously and make sure the roads are constructed strongly not like the past administration that constructed China roads” he stated.

He disclosed that efforts are being made to ensure the completion of some of the roads before the raining season sets in as the governor wants to put Imo state in high pedestal by providing good roads in the rural areas.

Reacting to the Local government Financial autonomy bill that was passed by the Senate, he stated that when the bill is fully assented by the Imo House of Assembly it will enhance leadership in the local government level and ensure enormous rural development.
He noted that the bill will enable an unhindered access to the rural area development and reduce the rate of urban migration.

He stated that the bill will also make artisans, businessman amongst others to do business with ease and will also engage youths in the rural areas and make them stop engaging in social vices due to unemployment.

He urged the state House of Assembly to bury their selfish interest and do the needful as he noted that “if the LGA is developed, the state will be developed also.

He maintained further that the different LGAs in the state are doing their best as the governor has given them free access to funds to enable them carry out projects in the LGA.
