The Imo State House of Assembly has compelled the Commissioner of Police to immediately fish out the Vigilante Group of Owerre Ebeiri Orlu who allegedly unlawfully lynched two young men for alleged bike robbery at the community and make them face the wrath of the law without bias or fear.

The Member representing Isu State Constituency, Hon. Ngozi Obiefule on Wednesday, warned traditional rulers of Imo State not to allow extra- judicial killing in their domains, threatening that the Assembly will sanction any monarch who allows unlawful inhuman act to happen. Obiefule argued that, there was no proper investigation showing that these young men were criminals to warrant the unlawful lynching.

The house resolved that the Commissioner of Police be mandated to properly investigate and fish out the alleged killers of the two young men so as to bring to an end the lynching of suspects in the state.

Thus, the motion was co- sponsored by Hon Okechukwu Onyekamma, Hon Johnson Duru, Hon Paschal Okolie, Hon Sam Otuibe, Hon Solomon Anukam and supported by Members for Orsu and Nwangele State Constituencies, Hon Ekele Nnodumele and Rt. Hon Amara Anyanwu, who said the motion was called for as such would curtail extra- judicial killing of innocent people (suspects) in Imo State.

Recalled that last week, two young men, Mr. Chigaemezu Uzoma and Mr. Chinanu Nwosu who were indigenes of Isuokporo of Isu local government area of Imo State were unlawfully lynched at Owerre Ebeiri of Orlu local government area by a Vigilante Group over alleged bike robbery.
