Imo police Intensifies ban on use of fireworks, explosive

The Imo state police command has Intensified the ban of fireworks and other explosives in the state during the Yuletide celebration.

According to a statement signed by the police public Relations Officer, CSP Micheal Abattam it stated that “Explosive is still very much in force and the command will enforce all the extant laws prohibiting the use of ‘knockout’ banger especially during the Yuletide season”

According to a statement, the use of fireworks is synonymous with criminals who use such to cause distraction, fear and panic and at the process carry out their neferious activities of kidnapping and armed robbery.
Also the police maintained that such could also lead to loss of lives as a result of heart attack to aged people and fire outbreak.

In a bid to prevent crime in the state, the police hereby warned parents and guardians to educate their wards and Children against the dangers of the use of fireworks and explosives.

It also urged marketers of such in the state that any person culpable will be arrested and prosecuted according to the provisions of the law.
The CP, Rabiu Hussaini therefore gave the directives to Divisional Police Officers to ensure the compliance of the order in their areas.
