Imo govt sets up committee to organize security conference

Imo State Government says it has set up a committee to organize a security conference that will be taking place in the state soon.

This was made known by the state Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, who Government House Correspondents at the end of the state Executive Council Meeting, held on Wednesday, May 11, at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Owerri.

He said council noted that work was progressing smoothly at the site of numerous road construction works ongoing in the state, including the five kilometres roads in each of the 27 local government areas of the state

Other resolutions of the council, according to Emelumba included; setting up a committee to work out modalities for the construction of a modern abattoir in the state.

Speaking further the commissioner said, “Also Exco noted with delight that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, denoted many trailer loads of text books for; primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state. The state ministry of education has taken delivery of the books for distribution to the pupils and students, free of charge.

“Exco was delighted to note that Imo State contingents to this year’s paralympic games came sixth overall in the country and first in the South East. His Excellency has graciously decided to host them at a date to be announced soon.

Emelumba disclosed the displeasure of the Exco at the continued appropriation of government lands by unscrupulous individuals, in connivance with some agencies of government, warning those involved that they were doing that at their own risk, as government will not only stop at nothing in effort to recover the lands but ensure that all those involved are appropriately punished.
