The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on national assembly matters and ecological projects, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu has assured the people of Nsu Clan, Ehime Mbano LGA and entire Imolites that the present administration was poised to revitalize the Nsu Ceramic Tiles Company, Agbaghara Nsu.
Nwachukwu who gave this assurance while fielding questions from News Echo, pointed out that the state and local governments are run by subventions and allocations from the federal government, as well as internally generated revenues from establishments owned by the state. He said one of such establishments is Nsu Tiles, established by the military administration of Cornel Tanko Zubairu and abandoned by subsequent administrations, which he said is situated on 18 hectares of land.
The special adviser said he recently drew the attention of the governor to the need to revitalize the industry and the governor made it clear that he has engaged a consortium of consultants to work out ways and modalities for revitalizing the company, hinting that one of the consultants may be Deloitte Consulting firm.
The former federal lawmaker said the land was donated by the entire Nsu clan, while the company is sited in Agbaghara Nsu. According to Nwachukwu, the company was estimated to employ about 4500 workers and projected to generate about N18b monthly. “Unfortunately such project was allowed to lie fallow. If you go there today, you will see most of the equipment that were imported to start the production wasting away”.
The SA recalled that the former commissioner for commerce and industry, Hon Kingsley Uju, led a state delegation which paid an inspection visit to the company, in a bid to ascertain what is required to bring it back to life. “Nsu people will soon smile as the present governor, Hope Uzodimma is poised to revitalize the industry”.
