Imo first lady empowers women with over 100 sewing machines, hair dryers

The Wife of the Imo state governor, Barr Mrs. Chioma Uzodinma has fulfilled her promise of alleviating the plight of women in the state especially the vulnerable.

She made this possible through the distribution of over 100 sewing machines and hair dryers including cash were given to the women drawn from the 27 LGA of the state.

Speaking to the beneficiaries, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Group, Hon. Lady Nkechi Ugwu, stated that her Excellency is doing everything possible to put smiles on the faces of Imo women as indicated in the series of programmes and empowerment she has initiated.

She noted that the welfare of Imo women is of utmost priority to the state government. She assured that the shared prosperity government will continue to make impacts in the lives of Imo women.

She noted that within the I6 days of activism against gender based violence and beyond, Imo state first lady will not relent in its efforts to give more power and freedom to the women to control their circumstances.

The special Adviser on Special Duties, Hon. Humphrey Ikeaka urged the women to continue to support and pray for the peace and progress of the state government son that it will sustain its efforts in empowering the women.
