The Federation of Umudibia Nekede Youth had flayed their President, Chief Chukwuma Ibekwe, 54, for allegedly embezzling youths funds in complicit with their traditional ruler, HRH, Eze Godwin Onyewuchi Merenini and others as hunger, anger and underdevelopment bedevil the community.
The youth have stated that the 54 years old youth leader has perpetuated himself in office because he is backed up by the monarch and some undemocratic persons of the community who they said do not want progress and success of their people, accusing the President of wasting and converting the association’s money to himself and his cronies, decrying leadership failure, impasse and infrastructural mess.
The youth who passed the impeachment motion raised through Comr. Chukwudi Mgbeosuru and Comr. Ugochukwu Opara during a meeting held at Umudibia, Primary School last week, said passing vote of no confidence on their President was germanely deserving considering his long autocratic rule, regretting that despite elapsing of his tenure he had allegedly drained the coffers of the association which had elicited crisis and backwardness at the area.
They noted that “after our deliberation at a meeting held at Umudibia Nekede Primary School last week through a motion unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on Chief Chukwuma Ibekwe who emerged President of Federation of Umudibia Nekede Youth in 2006 and 2007 and has been in power till date. It is very unlawful and unacceptable for Chukwuma to remain on the position as youth President. He has spent fifteen years in office having lackadaisical and autocratic spirit and obsolete attitude”.
The aggressive youths have reiterated that “the President massively misused public funds officially and specifically mapped out for community infrastructure development. His continued abuse of the office of the youth President has been put to a halt following the vote of no confidence on him. The Federation of Umudibia Nekede Youths are peaceful, accommodating and hardworking who believe in positive ideologies, policies and leadership of the government of Imo State”.
“We call on the shared prosperity government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma to quickly intervene by compelling the traditional ruler and his cohorts to relinquish power and hold free and fair election for the youth to save our community from leadership impasse, highhandedness and extinction”.
However, effort made to reach the President of Federation of Umudibia Nekede Youths and the traditional ruler of the community was unsuccessful.
