The ombudsman of Public Complaint Commission, Imo State, Barr. Willie Amadi has called on federal government to ensure that it properly funds the commission for enhanced efficiency and productivity.

Amadi made the call while interacting with media professionals in his office in Owerri last Friday.

He added that apart from funding the commission, office equipments, staff bus, staff motivation including renumeration need to be prioritised in order to encourage staff to be proactive and efficient just as ICPC, EFCC among others are well funded.

“We appeal to federal government, national assembly and other authorities concerned to look inwards as to improve public complaint commission with proper funding for timely dispensation of justice for which the commission is saddled with”, Amadi said.

Amadi, who said he would be bowing out of office as ombudsman of the commission in few days, informed that he had improved the commission with the midas touch especially on matters concerning employees, ordinary people, (those who were abused, intimidated, cheated and marginalized) which “were resolved without any acrimony. Because the bureau stands for justice, as backed by military decree and later became an act of parliament. When I came in I did a lot of massive renovation with my personal money. I furnished the complaint department bureau because I needed a good environment to carry out my work dutifully and diligently”.

Amadi stated that the commission had partnered government as there was no case the commission settled that has been taken to court for redress, eulogizing governor Hope Uzodimma on road construction and rehabilitation in the State as he encouraged him to sustain the good work.

The former ENTRACO general manager also advised government to maintain its paramount responsibility of meeting the welfare, needs and security of the people, even as he encouraged stakeholders to brace up to the challenges and broker lasting peace for even socio- economic advancement of the society.
