All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Youth Wing, Anambra State chapter, has inaugurated and flagged off the five years agro plans of the group at the main Hall, Ministry of Agriculture, ADP. Building, Quarter, Awka.

The event was kicked off officially with an opening prayers said by Orjika Donatus C.J (Prince) and the National anthem, by the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Hon. Nnamdi Onukwuba.
In his opening address, the Leader of AFAN Youth Wing, Anambra State, Nze Chisom Onugha, while welcoming the members drawn from the 21 LGAs of the State, who volunteered themselves to grace the occasion stated that the group initiated the 5years agro value chains plan to enable it conscientiously and passionately pursue her ambitious programs without haste and reservations.
He further said that efforts would be made in the short and medium term and in line with the state’s vision 2070, to harness the potentials of small and medium youth farmers across the state and raise fresh awarenesses toward agro startups for the greater tomorrow and well coordinated agro activities; geared towards the maximum economic growths, foods sufficiency/ security in the South East Zone of Nigeria and Anambra State in particular.
He enlisted the co-oporation of Government at all levels, the youths and stakeholders across board, to achieve the set goals.
Contributing, the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Onukwuba Nnamdi (Mmanya-ike N’Onitsha), expressed pleasure on the efforts made at re-engineering youths interest in agriculture and agro value chains, as a way forward to self-employment, self-sustanaibilty self-discovery, economic inclusions and empowerments.
He further advised the Youths against infighting to enable them gain
the relevance created so far l, attract the attention of the incoming administration of the Governor Elect, Prof. C. C Soludo and other relevant stakeholders, for maximum sustainable partnership and supports.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Orjika Donatus (Prince), thanked the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, the Royal Fathers who honoured the event, the youths present, the stakeholders and members of the his Committee team, for a job well done. He enjoined the youths and his Civil Servants colleagues, in Anambra State, to place some considerable interests on yams and Vitamin A Potatoes cultivation in bags venture, as very rewarding and sustainable innovative agro business and shun cultism, drugs abuse, Yahoo-Yahoo and other social vice.
He further, called on his colleague civil servants to take advantage of the ongoing Federal Government/CBN single digits funding windows, to plan for sustainable and happy retirement by embracing agriculture now with the emerging opportunities.
The highpoints of the occasion was the formal flagoff of the plan by the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, the inspection of the assembled /exhibited agro products by the youths, the awards honour of Grand Patrons to the four Traditional Rulers and recognition of notable youth farmers and stakeholders in the state; by the group and donations from stakeholders in support of the unveiled 5years plan of the Group
Among other top dignitaries and state fuctionaries present were, HRH, Igwe Silvanus Uchime, (Diji 111 N’Ufuma), HRH, Igwe Bernard Emejuo, (Ebubeagu N’Eziagu) HM, Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa (Ezedike N’ Ukwulu), the Federal Director of Agriculture, Anambra State, Chief Arthur Mbuba.
