This, they said, would save them from dying of polluted streams and other unclean water supplies

He noted that the only source of water for the natives which is a stream in a far distance, was allegedly polluted by waste materials from a company recently, thereby, exposing his people to various diseases.

Uchegbuo warned “the situation could trigger high mortality rate in my area if it is not arrested . We are calling on the federal and Abia State governments to provide us with functional and clean pipe- borne water.”

He further demanded loan packages for his agrarian population whom he said, supplied about 70% of food items sold at popular Ndoro market. Uchegbuo who said that functional primary health care centres were needed for pregnant and nursing mothers, also pointed out that the elderly people in his community deserved proper attention when sick.
