Four communities of Usaka-Ukwu, Ndiokoro, Ndieke and Upa of Ikwuano LGA of Abia State have been electrified by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), to the jubilation of the people.

The electricity project, which was attracted by the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, Hon. Sam Onuigbo was on Friday commissioned.

Onuigbo who said he was worried by the plight of his constituents, explained that the electricity project would transform the lives of the rural people and improve their economic contributions to the State.

He equally promised that more communities and individuals would enjoy from his programs, while charging the communities to utilise the project.

Some of the community members of Ndieke who spoke to newsmen after the commissioning of the project described the House of Reps member as God-sent, noting that they were abandoned to fate by previous representatives.

One of the elated villager who broke down in tears, Mr. Tobias Mmezu, said “My daughter who is studying marketing in a polytechnic is now 20 years, but can you believe that there has not been light in my village since she was born?”

“In fact, it was painful seeing how our neighbors in Akwa Ibom enjoyed development while we in Abia suffered of neglect.”
