Anambra State government has replied the Federal Government on its plan to declare state of emergency in the state, noting that the state is not ripe for such embarrassment.

“The Federal Government has threatened to declare a ‘state of emergency’ in Anambra State over the lingering insecurity situation in the state.

Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, disclosed this after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

He disclosed that the Federal Government is determined to ensure a hitch-free election in the state.

Reacting on the development, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Council Area and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand (APGA), Mrs. Ify Obinabo, who frowned over the decision, said the current security challenges confronting the state has not gotten to that extent, compare to what happens in the Northern states.

The Federal Government should first of all declare state of emergency in all the trouble Northern states before thinking of Anambra State.

How can they be so fast in their Executive decision to declare state of emergency in Anambra, when Niger, Borno, Sokoto, Katsina and Kaduna States have been seized by Boko Haram and bandits for two decades now, without declaring state of emergency there, despite several calls by concern groups including International Organisations.

With the continued effort of the present administration under Willie Obiano, we believe God Almighty that the situation would come under control.
Nigerians know states that urgently needed such intervention and not Anambra State.
