Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has launched “Operation Crush” with a charge on security agencies to dislodge criminals and make the state secure for law abiding citizens. Speaking at the launch held at Michael Okpara Square and on the theme ‘we shall not leave an inch” said security is an enduring investment, adding that the crush is a joint operation of all security agencies in the state to fight criminal elements and safeguard citizens.

He revealed that the aim is to identify, analyze and respond to security threats and a strong and coordinated response to the issues of insecurity bedeviling the state. Governor Otti decried the recent attack on his Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu and described it as a direct assault on the state government.

The Abia Chief Security officer further revealed that the state will no longer share one inch with the criminals and their sponsors and warned them to leave the state in a hurry or be crushed with the language of superior force. According to him, the state will neither negotiate with anyone threatening the peace of the state and reminded security agencies to guard against using the force of exuberance that could result to the harassment of innocent citizens.

He also highlighted that anyone who harbours anyone that threatens the peace of the state would be met with severe actions, adding that securing the state is the first step towards creating an enabling environment for business to thrive. CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Commissioner of Police, Abia State, speaking on behalf of other security agencies appreciated the government for investment for security in Abia State with his push and support to ensure a safe Abia. They pledged to execute their professional duties effectively in the state.
