Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has appointed Mr. Chigozie Ubani as the Commandant of Ebubeagu vigilante in Abia State.
The Governor in a statement signed by the Secretary to Abia State government, Barr Chris Ezem said the appointment of the Ebubeagu Commander is with immediate effect.
Reacting to his appointment, the Ebubeagu Commandant, Ubani thanked Governor Ikpeazu for finding him worthy for the security job and promised to discharge his duties creditably. He promised to ensure that Abia remained among the safest States in Nigeria.
It would be recalled that some unknown gunmen recently attacked a cattle market at Omumauzor, Ukwa West LGA of the State, killing eight traders and injuring some others. Livestock belonging to the slain traders were also killed during the attack. Ebubeagu is a regional security outfit floated by Governors of the South East States, to provide security in the South East in complimenting the efforts of Nigerian security agencies.
