The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja who was recently redeployed has bid officers and soldiers of the 32 Artillery Brigade Obinze, farewell.
Speaking during a farewell ceremony organized for him at 32 Artillery Brigade Obinze Barracks, Imo State, Lagbaja enthused that the battle against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), its armed affiliate -Eastern Security Network (ESN) and other criminal elements in Imo State has been won but the war was not yet over.
Gen Lagbaja appreciated the troops for their undaunting loyalty, service to the Nation and for sustaining the peace that has so far been restored in the state.
He added that the criminals are on the run and should not be allowed to regroup and hold on to any fortress, while urging the troops to redouble their efforts and continue to work hard to see that criminality was brought to an outright end in the state.
The GOC also commended the performance of the troops of the Brigade which hosted the just concluded Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2022, which he said was a huge success.
He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya for his commitment to the welfare of troops of the Nigerian Army and informed the troops that the COAS has approved the construction and renovation of some blocks of accommodation in the barracks, of which work will commence soon. He further thanked the troops for making his tenure as the GOC 82 division a success.
While appreciating the efforts of the GOC, the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Sani Sulaiman thanked the him for providing purposeful and pragmatic leadership and for his moral support, especially during various operations which led to clearing of the irredentist elements from their hideouts, especially in Orsumoghu, Lilu and other places where the terrorists maimed innocent citizens and destroyed properties at will.
Suleiman promised to sustain the tempo and build on the successes so far achieved. He wished the GOC well in his new place of duty as the GOC 1 Division.
