Imo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has called on the security operatives in the state to fish out sponsors of criminal elements and deal with them.
He said this over the weekend during an interactive Radio audience participatory programme with Imo citizens which was transmitted live at Exco chambers, Govt House, Owerri to mark the 2nd year Anniversary.
The programme provided a platform for Imo citizens to interact with the governor and ask questions bothering on his administration.
In his response to issues of insecurity in the state, Uzodimma stated that his government will not engage in dialogue with criminals parading as unknown gunmen but has directed the security agencies to investigate the sponsors of politically masterminded insecurity and prosecute them. He further explained that his core mandate is to ensure the security and welfare of the masses hence his effort so far to bring insecurity to a standstill.
The governor while dealing on the issue of bad road network in the state, posited that his administration has commenced a massive road construction to ensure easy flow of traffic. He said most of the road projects will be completed before the rains start. He advised Imo citizens to be patient in the midst of the inconveniences experienced as a result of bad roads as he promised to complete some of the projects before raining season.
The governor also promised to commence a second phase of youth empowerment, that will also enable youths interested in agriculture have easy access to land and funds to start up farming and agro-allied products.
Also some callers who complained of non-payment of their salaries and pensions were directed by the governor to take their documents to the office of the Imo state Head of Service for verification and possible solution to their complaints if they are dully employed by the state government. He also disclosed that the government is currently paying the minimum wage and also making consequential adjustment while still having a discussion with the labour union.
