A group, Concerned Citizens of Igbo Race (COCIR), has advised South East governors to jettison greed and selfish tendencies and work in unison to champion the cause and interests of the Igbo with a view to boosting development, peace, prosperity, comfort and security.
The Concerned Citizens of Igbo Race is an interest and mediation group which has been in existence. It has made inroads in the progress and advancement of Igbo race.

The group, in a resolution reached after an executive meeting, held at Concorde Hotel, Owerri, last Sunday, charged governors and other political leaders of South East to throw overboard all forms of anti people and selfish tendencies to pursue positive goal targeted at common good, progress and prosperity of the Igbo especially the security of life and property.

The communiqué which was signed by COCIR President, Rev. Comr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Omeokwe, Rev. Dr. Basil Ogbonna, Imo State Coordinator and Prince Joseph Nwosu- Okorie, Director of Media, stressed that “the time for the Igbo to speak with one voice regardless of party leanings or affiliations and personal interest has come for the common good of the region, hence COCIR will not close its eyes to any person or groups defaulting the benefits of Igbo society”.

While calling for cooperation of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), MASSOB, South East governors and other Igbo leaders and groups for way forward for the race, the COCIR however appealed for harmonious operations and synergy of Eastern Security Network (ESN) and Ebubeagu security operatives to be able to orderly secure the region and flush out terrorists.
COCIR maintained that leaders of the Igbo ought to do the needful to win back the lost confidence of the people to prove that they are not there to serve the interest of their Northern Masters by creating and implementing policies and services”.
