In Nigerian politics, fierce isn’t always the first adjective that’s applied to public servants. But for Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife, “feisty” captures much of what defines her political journey: fortitude, boldness, outspokenness, and an unflinching commitment to her constituents and herself_

The recent brouhaha fight between Iyom Ekwunife, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and wife-Nonye Soludo, has opened the eyes of many people who might see it as charade of discourse. But one thing stands out, Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife remains gutsy

Early Life, Education and Roots of Resolve

Sen Uche Lilian Ogudebe born on December 12, 1970 in Igbo-Ukwu, Anambra State, she came from a background that imbued her with both traditional values and a drive for achievement. Her academic credentials are solid. She earned a B.Sc. in Business Education & Accounting from University of Calabar, followed by an MBA (Nnamdi Azikiwe University), and eventually a PhD in Public Administration from Atlantic International University.

Before politics, she built a career in banking, ascending through the ranks — experiences that hardened her sense of discipline and accountability. These early chapters laid the foundation for someone who would not shrink from confrontation, from challenges, or from pushing back when the stakes were high. Political Rise & Defiance of Conventional Paths.

Sen Uche Ekwunife first won elective office in 2007, representing the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia federal constituency in the House of Representatives — a role she held for two terms.

In 2015, she won election to the Senate for Anambra Central, and though a court later vacated part of that victory, she returned strongly, winning again in 2019. Throughout, she has shown readiness to move between political parties when she perceives that her principles, her constituents’ interests, or her effectiveness are threatened. Critics sometimes label this “political itinerancy,” but supporters argue it’s a pragmatic insistence on agency and principle.

*_Feistiness in Action: Standing Up, Delivering, and Fighting Back What makes a politician feisty isn’t just bold rhetoric; it’s follow-through and visible resistance

*_Senator Ekwunife’s record includes: Legislation and Advocacy: She has sponsored numerous bills, moved motions challenging neglect or imbalance in representation (such as the non-representation of the South East in regulatory board appointments)_

*_Constituency Projects: She has delivered roads in all local government areas of Anambra Central, health centers, education support, skill-training for youths and women, and more_*.

*_Challenging Misinformation and Political Smear: The Senator has publicly condemned blackmail, fake news, propaganda tactics used by opponents to tarnish her reputation or pit her against other leaders. She has urged that campaigns be issue-based rather than smear-based_*.

_Controversies and Criticism: The Other Side of Feistiness No politician of her style goes without controversy. Some of the critiques_

*_Party Hopping: As noted above, Ekwunife has been criticized for changing party affiliations multiple times. For some, this raises questions about ideological consistency_*

_Litigation and Electoral Disputes: Her victories have sometimes been overturned in court; also, her opponents have used legal and institutional means to challenge her position. Feisty pursuit of political goals often invites counterattacks Yet, in her public statements she tends to own up to the criticism, or else argue that her decisions are driven by principle or necessity, especially when it comes to delivering on promises or resisting unfair practices_.

*_Why She Matters and fit for Anambra; Influence, Representation, and Inspiration Beyond the fights, Ekwunife’s significance in Nigerian politics includes_*

_Being a symbol of what many expect from representation: a politician who is accessible, responsive, and works for visible change. Her constituents often cite her off-term engagements (town halls, local projects) as evidence she isn’t just there to occupy space_.

_Serving as an example for women in politics, especially in regions where female representation has been thin._ _Her rise shows that politics needn’t be the sole province of men; it can be combative, tough, and unfair — but still survivable with resilience._

_Shifting expectations about what a Senator or Representative “should do” beyond legislation: pushing for infrastructure, education, empowerment, and taking accountability directly to the people_

*Feistiness as Political Capital*

*_Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife embodies a kind of feistiness that’s not mere bluster — it is backed by credentials, by deeds, by a willingness to assert herself, sometimes to disrupt, always to insist. In a political environment where many prefer safe quiet, she often chooses to be loud, visible, and (yes) controversial. But that choice is part of her appeal_

_In many ways, her feisty style is political capital: it signals that she’s not easily cowed, that she is willing to confront structural issues, and that her loyalty is as much to her constituents and values as it is to any party. Whether one agrees with every decision, there is no doubt that Senator Ekwunife has carved out a space where she matters _and where many watch, learn, and often take courage. Unlike the sayings he who the cap fits, let him wear it_

*_Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife will do much more better as Deputy Governor under the watch of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, indeed Anambra will be Great Again. OBRIGADO IYOM ANAMBRA._*
