…As Obi commissions campaign office in Owerri
As 2023 elections draw closer, a socio-political organization, Rescue Nigeria Project, RNP, has thrown its weight to the political aspirations of Labour Party presidential and vice presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba- Armed, hence its endorsement.
The endorsement of Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba- Armed which happened at Art Nouveau Event Centre, Owerri, last week, saw the likes of Professor Pat Utomi, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, Ike C. Ibe, Chief David Mbamara, Hon. Kingsley Ononuju (former Commissioner of Commerce and Industry) among others in attendance.
They stated that their reason for endorsing the Labor Party presidential and vice presidential candidates is to have a solid ground to rescue Nigeria and its citizens from poverty, pain, hunger, agony, suffering, criminality, insecurity, unemployment, lack of working infrastructure occasioned by leadership failure. The group blamed political parties such as the APC and the PDP for the woes of the country.
Addressing the gathering, National Leader of RNP and Labour Party, Professor Pat Utomi, said Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba- Armed are good combinations who have democratic spirits to rescue Nigeria and its citizens from political recklessness, economic difficulty, quagmire and social deficiency.
Utomi mentioned that “when we plotted initially of how to rescue Nigeria from adversity through effective leadership, the APC and the PDP laughed at us because they feel they can defeat our plans because they have all the resources at their disposal. But today, the project is a reality as Labor Party is today standing on a pole position. We plotted that good governance mattered to liberate the people”.
Identifying leadership as “the pursuit of immortality”, Utomi submitted that “when you lead well you will be remembered well… The Premier of Eastern Nigeria Dr. M. I. Okpara for me was ahead of the First indigenous Head of State, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. Okpara is an extraordinary man, who built and developed Eastern Region which now compromised of South East and South South Regions.
The first Executive Governor of Imo State, Barr Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe, did wonders and developed Old Imo State to be the envy of others. These men are wonderfully endowed with quality, good leadership acumen by God Almighty who ordains good kings.
Today, posterity holds them in high esteem even though they had no money. Peter Obi is following their footsteps. This is why we endorsed him. We are to vote massively for Labour Party to enable Obi and Datti emerge, for the arising of new Nigeria which will be good for all citizens”.
Earlier in his remarks, South East Chairman of Rescue Nigeria Project, Chief David Mbamara disclosed that the patriots came together to rescue Nigeria through Labour Party, stating that they are fulfilled that LP is in the race to lift the country as to bring goodness and happiness to the people who he frowned have been depraved and deprived of the country’s fortunes, positing that every good leader possesses integrity, having capacity, competence and the spirit of inclusiveness to be able to drive good governance as democracy and republicanism entail, harping that those ingredients are determinant factors eligible voters should always consider while casting ballots.
Mbamara affirmed that “Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba- Armed are well experienced to lead Nigeria to prosperity. Professor Pat Utomi held LP presidential ticket, but gave the ticket to Obi to run because he has the strength to redeem Nigeria from coma. Nigeria is in coma. We must do everything humanly possible to rescue Nigeria. If we fail, Nigeria will be in deep mess after 2023.
Yes, LP has brought us back to the era of Dr. M. I. Okpara, Barr. Sam Mbakwe who built and developed the South East and South South regions. The problem of Nigeria is leadership failure. Human disaster in the country is terribly caused by political parties which give tickets to the highest bidders with questionable characters”.
Mbamara, while urging the “electorate to vote wisely because LP is going to rescue Nigeria from evil grab of APC and President Mohammadu Buhari”, advised citizens not to be “deceived by peanuts they receive from ill politicians. LP will surely change the ugly narratives. Hence we decided to endorse Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba- Armed. They are the most qualified presidential candidates for 2023 election”.
Mbamara was bitter that “since 2015, over 10, 000 innocent people have been killed in Nigeria. The country has no working refinery, no working infrastructure such as electricity, road, railway, healthcare, including quality education (ASUU has been on strike with the students waisting), no employment either.
To say the least, APC does not have the moral right to ask people to vote for their candidates in the forthcoming election. To avert more evil, no person should vote for APC in any capacity. Vote LP, it is pro- workers. As you vote for Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba- Armed, vote for other LP candidates too”.
Adding his voice, Senator representing Owerri Senatorial District at the Senate, Ezenwa Onyewuchi, said “Nigeria is sick and if we do not rescue it, it will die. Nigeria is in deep trouble and needs a turn around. Good leadership entails everything and ideas are needed to transform the country. LP is a moving train.
We thank RNP for endorsing LP. We will always follow the rules of LP when elected or reelected. Obident Movement is a revolution. We need this rescue like never before. We know that Obi will do it because we need employment, security, infrastructure and security”.
In a related development, the presidential flag bearer of Labour Party, Peter Obi, had assured the people of good governance if they are elected as president and vice president of Nigeria.
Obi gave the assurance when he officially commissioned LP campaign office in Owerri last week. The three storey building he commissioned was built and donated to the party by Dr. Libo Agwara, an indigene of Ngor-kpala Local Government Area, Imo State.
Obi, who thanked the mammoth crowd that graced the commissioning, urged them to deeply involve in Obident Movement in order to enable them emerge victorious to be able to change the country positively for the good of all citizens who he said deserve good living and social comfort.
“Nigeria cannot continue this way it is today. Be rest assured that we will be able to change this country from the way it is. Be reassured that from 2023, whoever is the driver of this country will be a good driver”, Obi added.
Describing Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba- Armed as thoughtful leaders who are prepared and ready to liberate the country through good governance, foretold that Obi and Datti are going to win the presidential election in 2023 because Obident Movement has formidable structure, ranking highest in numerical strength.
Agwara, who called on sensible citizens who have democratic spirits to support and give their mandate to LP candidates, assured of his effective commitment to the cause of rescuing the country from bad leadership.
However, an ardent supporter of Obident Movement, a Muslim and an Imo indigene, who is married in Kano State, Hajiya Rakiya Munkailu Armed and her friend, said that they came to identify with Obi and Datti because they are competent politicians who are fully prepared to revolutionize the country.
