Imo Assembly Seat: young female aspirant vows to end underdevelopment at Ihitte-Uboma

A vibrant, intelligent, human- oriented, development- driven, God- fearing young female politician and activist, Comr. Blessing Ngozi Onwumere, has vowed to end or minimally reduce underdevelopment, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty, hunger, insecurity and suffering caused by poor representation or bad leadership at Ihitte-Uboma local government area if by the grace of God she is elected into the Imo State House of Assembly in 2023.

She assured that she has the capacity to change the sore tale of underdevelopment at the constituency by ensuring that infrastructure like regular electricity, good roads, functional and affordable hospitals or health centers, regular portable water, clean and attractive market environments and structures including quality education which are lacking at the area are adequately installed or built to encourage economic opportunities via production of agriculture (farming), trading, artisanship for even development and comfort if she emerges as House Member.

She made the vow while speaking to journalists at the PDP Secretariat Owerri last week. She mentioned that she will empower women and children of Ihitte-Uboma on meaningful skills, trade including formal education to enable them feed well and live happily, peacefully and fulfilled, noting that she decided to run for the position under the platform of PDP in order to gain more edge to positively affect the lives of the people of Ihitte-Uboma to reduce minimally their woes, agonies and sufferings.

Onwumere who said she is absolutely qualified and intellectually prepared and energetically ready to go to the Imo State House of Assembly in 2023 to do wonders, remarked that she has rich political and social experiences that will enable her to give Ihitte-Uboma Constituency effective representation, enumerating that she was a former Assistant Secretary General of Student Union Government of University of Abuja, a one- time Director of Gender, National Association of Nigeria Students, first female President of National Association of Imo State Students Union, University of Abuja and at present the outgoing Executive Director, Savera Africa.

“I decided to run because, as the Executive Director of Savera Africa, I have been advocating for women inclusion in politics, policy making and good education. I see going to the House of Assembly in 2023 as an opportunity or platform to continue to advocate these courses I have been advocating for humanity over the years”, she said.

Stressing that “Ihitte-Uboma is underdeveloped and ridden by insecurity”, Onwumere said she believes that “young people are quite innovative, creative and we provide solutions to some of these local problems. We deal with local problems. They are global issues actually, but some of our problems are local problems and we can deal with them by creating or proffering solutions”, regretting that her “community has bad roads, no electricity, no good and functional health centers. My people have been crying bitterly and no body cares to hear them out. It is bad that the people cannot access infrastructure nor good education and neat market environments. Poor representation and bad leadership are the major causes of our woes and they must be addressed squarely by me. And I shall not fail my people, come rain, come sun”.

She promised that she will make good laws that will enable the executive arm of government to build quality and accessible social amenities to help create jobs for the people, saying it “behoves on us to go into the community to find out problems or needs of the people and ensure things are adequately and timely done to ameliorate difficulties to stop insecurity and hunger. I’m a creative young woman who has been in various platforms helping people to proffer solutions to their problems, even global issues. So, I believe that as a young person, I can proffer solutions to local problems at Ihitte-Uboma if I emerge as their House Member”.

Disclosing that she recently donated textbooks to some schools at Ihitte-Uboma to encourage teaching and learning, bearing in mind that education is key that guarantees better future for children and women especially, the activist appealed to the PDP to see her qualified for the Seat and give her the Ticket to be able to Fly the party’s Flagg to victory in the forthcoming general election, reiterating her desire to make Ihitte-Uboma become more better and more peaceful.
