Major APC stakeholder in Anambra State an two-time APC Guber Aspirant and humanitarian, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has expressed the need for elected political leaders who occupy elective positions, not to avoid the people who voted them into office or make themselves inaccessible.
In a brief media chat with newsmen on the day he empowered 11 youths of Umuchu community with some millions of naira, to start their businesses, the philanthropist and major APC stakeholder in Anambra State stated that political leaders who began to avoid the people after they were sworn into office, have failed to understand the purpose for which they were elected into office.
Speaking during the interactive session, he asserted that accessibility to a public office holder is the first sign of a leader who has come to serve the people.
“I’m not an elected public office holder but I’m very close to the grassroots. I’m on ground; I know what is happening in different wards because those who understand the essence of good leadership draw closer to me from various wards,” he said.
“Celebrate with them when they are celebrating and mourn with them when they are mourning. Try to maintain an open channel of communication and be diplomatic. It does not take rocket science to be good to people,” Chief Onunkwo added.
