Abia State chapter of All Progressive Congress, APC has again been rocked by crises, following the emergence of Hon Donatus Nwankpa as the National Welfare Secretary of the party. To this end, a faction of the party in the State has announced the suspension of the Abia APC Chairman, Hon Kingsley Ononogbu and top members of his executives.
The suspension was announced by Okey Ezala , the Secretary of ‘Stakeholders’ faction, on a radio in Umuahia. Those suspended by the faction are Hon Kingsley Ononogbu, the APC Chairman, Chidi Avaja, party Secretary, Grant Nwogu, deputy Chairman and Obinna Atuonwu, the party’s Organizing Secretary. He said that the suspended officers had failed APC and would remain suspended until further notice.
But reaction to the matter, Kingsley Ononogbu led APC which is recognized by the national secretariat of APC, has dismissed the purported suspension story, saying that it was a mere falsehood.
A chieftain of the party, Nwaba Kingsley who spoke on behalf of the ‘suspended’ officials, advised the general public to disregard the reports as they were not true. He maintained that the Kingsley Ononogbu and his executives are still in charge of Abia APC, adding that Chief Ikechi Emenike is also enjoying the support of every well meaning party member in the State. It would be recalled that the names of three persons from Abia State were submitted to the APC headquarters to replace the late former National Welfare Secretary, Barr Friday Nwosu. But surprisingly, the name of former Chairman of Abia APC, Donatus Nwankpa was announced by Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, the APC National Chairman, thereby fuelling fresh crises in the Abia chapter of the broom party.
