Anambra Assembly confirms two new Commissioners

Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed Mr Izuchukwu Moses Okafor and Hon Mrs Beverly Ikpeazu- Nkemdiche as Commissioners for Finance and Special Duties, respectively.

The new commissioners were confirmed on Thursday at the plenary.

The confirmation followed the motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Ikenna Ofodeme, seconded by Mr. Akaegbobi Johnbosco, representing Nnewi South 11 Constituency after the Chairman, House Committee on Screening and Election Matters, Mr. Patrick Okafor had presented the report of the committee on the floor of the House.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze had moved for the confirmation of the Commissioner Nominees while the lawmakers unanimously adopted it through voice votes.

Mr. Udeze therefore, congratulated the new commissioner on their successful screening and confirmation adding that Both of them are competent to join Gov. Soludo in his developmental strides in the state.

According to the Speaker, “Your records speak volumes about you in persons and may God help you in your work. I also commend Governor Soludo for picking these pedigree of persons to work with him. I advise you to always seek advice when needed”.

Also speaking, Mr. Noble Igwe, representing Ogbaru 1 Constituency, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Pius Okoye and Mr. Ifeanyi Umennajiego, representing Onitsha South 11 Constituency noted that Mrs. Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, having been in the state legislature for 12 years, had garnered enough experience that would help her in assisting the governor in his developmental strides in the state.

They equally said that with the track record of Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor as financial expert in economics, he would deliver on the job.

In a vote of thanks, Mrs. Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche expressed appreciation to Governor Charles Soludo for nominating them as commissioners in his administration and thanked the lawmakers for their confirmation.

She assured that they will do their very best in whatever job that will be assigned to them.

Recall that the House had on Wednesday, October 4, received a letter from Governor Charles Soludo, for the two Commissioner Nominees to be screened and confirmed by the lawmakers.
