Amawbia Community in Awka South Local Government Area on Tuesday, 22nd April, 2025, honoured two distinguished illustrious sons for the elevation to service.
The grand reception in honour of Dr Ifeanyichukwu Chukwunonye Okeke, the newly appointed Director General of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) and Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Sir Ozo Chief Chukwuma Pius Okoye (Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly) took place at the Amawbia Town Hall.
Speaking at the event, retired Director Finance and Accountant, Federal Ministry of Education and Chairman of the Occasion, Ozonkpu Sir Eddy Nwokoye (Ozo Amuluonyenego Amawbia) said the appointment in federal positions in Nigeria is a commendable approach that calls for service and honour.
According to Nwokoye, “Our brother was appointed Director General Standard Organization of Nigeria and it was incumbent on us to show that appreciation, recirve him, thank God and thank the federal government for finding him worthy to serve in that position. We want to encourage him not to disappoint Amawbia Community”.
High Chief Nwokoye equally used the opportunity to commend the Soludo’s administration for infrastructural development and human development pointing out that Amawbia people are 99 percent APGA faitthfuls. “We have produced Head of Service, Principal Secretary to the Government, APGA Chairman and have benefitted from APGA regime and we will continue to support AGPA.
“Apart from APGA doing well, Soludo is doing well, Soludo is not a politician he is a technocrat. He has increased the Internal Generated Revenue from what it’s used to be to greater number and using same money for infrastructural development in Anambra state. We will support him because he doesn’t empower individuals which makes them strong to fight the government”.
Speaking about the newly appointed DG, he stressed that Dr Ifeanyi Okeke as a chattered accountant will do exploits, “I am sure that his performance at the Imo State Revenue and as a former banker gave him an edge for this position. So we believe he will do well and we his community members are solidly behind him”.
“We want in a special way commend the President of Nigeria, His Excellency Ahmed Bola Tinubu for this great honour, appointment and we promise that we will ensure he delivers on the mandate. Amawbia has been very lucky, this is the second person that has attained the position of a DG in the same federal government agency which have not happened anywhere.
Earlier in his speech, Mr Onyekachukwu Nwalusi who represented the newly appointed Director General, Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) Dr Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke thanked the Amawbia Community for honouring him as he assumed office as the DG, SON. He assured that Dr Okeke will ensure that he uses his new office for service to humanity and Nigeria as a whole.
In his part, Deputy Speaker Anambra state House of Assembly, Sir Chukwuma Okoye
expressed happiness for the kind gesture bestowed on him. He promised to serve the people of Anambra with due diligence, quality representation and commitment to service.
Contributing, the President-General of Amawbia Town Union (ATU), Nze Chukwukadibia Odumodu, emphasized the need for unity among the people, especially in navigating the development of the community
Among those present were the Royal Father of the Day Ozo Arc. Nnaemeka Maduka (Osojeze Amawbia), Chairman Plqnning Committee, Nze Emma Nwokoye, Mr. Chinedu Nonyelu, Secretary, Planning Committee,all Village Chairmen, Amawbia women cultural dance group and the Presidents of all Age Grades, political officer holders among others.
