The senate president Senator Godswill Akpabio has been warned to refrain from any move to remove the Senator representing Abia North senatorial zone, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu through the Court of Appeal. A group, known as Abia North Political Stakeholders, gave the warning in Umuahia after a meeting, following the allegation by Senator Elisha Abbo, where he had claimed that the Senate was responsible for his removal through the Court of Appeal and was also allegedly plotting to do the same thing to Senator Kalu and some other Senators whose cases are in Court.
In a communique signed by the president of the group, High Chief Emmanuel Uche and the secretary, Elder Emeka Igwe, the group said the Senate President was exceeding his boundaries and should be ready to face the consequences of his actions if Kalu was removed.
The group described Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as a true son of Abia North who has imparted the people that of the zone positively through his wide spread of dividends of democracy in the zone.
“We have observed with utmost dismay, a scheme by the senate president, Senator Godswill Akpabio to use the Court of Appeal to remove the senator representing Abia North senatorial zone, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
We want to make it categorically clear that the Abia North Political Stakeholders will not take such from anyone, no matter how highly placed, and as such warn the senate president Senator Godswill Akpabio to forthwith desist from any move whatsoever to remove distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu from the national assembly.
Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is man of the people who has imparted positively on the people of the zone. There’s no part of the zone that has not felt his touch, ranging from road construction to human resources management and empowerment.
Anyone who tries to remove him will be met with resistance”, the group cautioned. The group further passed a vote of confidence in Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, saying that the Abia North Senatorial district was happy with his style of representative.
It would be recalled that the February 25 election of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is presently being challenged in the Court of Appeal by former Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of the PDP and Nnamdi Iro of the Labour Party. Kalu’s victory was in September, upheld by the National Assembly election petition tribunal, in Umuahia where petitions brought against him, were dismissed by the tribunal.
