There is palpable tension in the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, as the Deputy Chief of Staff to governor Willie Obiano, Mr. Uzu Okagbue has declared his intention to vie for the Senate, to represent Anambra Central Senatorial Seat at the National Assembly Abuja, in the 2023 general elections.
Mr. Okagbue, who is vying under APGA will be contesting for the party’s ticket with the former National Chairman of APGA, Senator Victor Umeh, alongside the member currently representing Njikoka, Anaocha, Dunukofia at the National Assembly, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo.
Meanwhile, from the investigation gathered by News Echo, many youths are happy with his interest in the position.
A source who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said: “Since he started thinking of that aspiration, there has been a huge shift. Youth are happy, there is joy in the atmosphere.
“Uzu has a lot of advantages and wields a lot of influence. Many people were favoured in Obiano’s government because of Uzu, so we are happy he has declared an interest.
Declaring his interest, Uzu, said I will put his entire first-year salary for the development of 58 communities in his constituency.
Uzu who stated this at his country home, Umunnachi, Dunukofia local government area, Anambra state, added that “I will target laws that make it easier for our people to do more business, make more money and develop our place even further. ” I will be sponsoring progressive bills that improve ease of doing business for the people in this District.
