The people of Aguleri, Umuleri (or Umueri), Umuoba Anam are beginning to breath a sigh of relief as the long aged road connecting both communites as well as others are now being rehabilitated courtesy of Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party – YPP.
News Echo reports that the commenced palliative work on the Otuocha-Anyamelum road, which has been abandoned and consequently out of use by motorists for years now.

The road, a major connecting route from Otuocha to Anyamelum, is also an important road that facilitates the ease of transportation of agricultural produce from the farmlands to markets within Anambra State and beyond.

In addition, the Otuocha-Anyamelum road is an important access road for businessmen connecting Onitsha from Anyamelum and environs, as well as the northern parts of Enugu.

During his campaign trail in Anyamelum LGA only a few weeks ago, Sir Paul Chukwuma assured the people of Anyamelum that he would prioritize the reconstruction of the only access road to the LGA and would also support the LGA to realize its maximum agro potentials.

The palliative work on the Otuocha-Anyamelum road was commenced on Monday, October 13, 2025, and would be completed in the coming days. Reacting, Sir Paul Chukwuma has described the ongoing work as a sign of what is to come. “I was personally concerned about the condition of the road, and during our campaign tour in the LGA, I specifically singled that out and assured the people that we shall respond. What we are doing is a mere palliative work. It is a sign of what is to come. Under my watch, important and strategic infrastructure shall be given accelerated attention in the overall public good,” Chukwuma said.

The ongoing work on the road has generated enormous goodwill and commendation from the people of Anyamelum LGA.
