Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma has given approval for the resumption of schools across the state, Monday October 5, 2020 as long as the recommendations of covid 19 committee are adhered to.

The information and strategy commissioner, Hon. Declan Emelumba disclosed this at the end of the state executive council meeting on Wednesday, 30 September.

Emelumba disclosed that the council agreed that Imo state school system be fully automated and digitalised so students enrolment, teachers and students personal data, fees payment, examination details and all relevant information concerning the schools will be accessed by any person or agency requiring such information.

He said the automation will make it easy for data on anyone who passed through the school system to be easily available, pointing out that the commissioner for education will head the process.

It was revealed by the information commissioner that council disapproved of the threat by Doctors to go on warning strike, noting that it was a form of politically motivated blackmail against a government that was making effort to sanitise the rot in payroll system for the benefit of all and asked them not to consider going on the warning strike, but to wait for amicable resolution.

It was also said that adequate security would be provided for the citizens for tomorrow’s independence anniversary celebration, sequel to the sit at home directive issued by some groups for people not to participate in the celebrations, assuring that security of lives will be adequately guaranteed.
