The Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, Awka South branch has hailed the activities and services of the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) led by the managing director, Hon Monday Nwokoye in Anambra state.

Chairman of the union in Awka South, Comrade Prince Ozojiofor stated this on Tuesday 24th Feb, 2026, when he played host at the one-day training of road users in Anambra organised by the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with Rotary Club International, District 1942.

Responding to questions of allegations on the issues of extortion by some leaders of TOAN, Hon Prince Ozojiofor emphasised that the primary responsibility of TOAN as a trade union is to oversee the welfare of its members and not to extort money from anyone. “People raising propaganda on the issue of extortion is totally baseless because we do not extort money from our members but protect their interests. So anybody trying to parade false narratives about the keke riders is trying to deceive the public.”

“I thank the almighty God who made it possible for Anambrarians to have a fearless governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. Soludo, being the person he is, who did not believe in touting. Before his administration came into power, we knew that touts were all over the place intimidating, harassing and extorting motorists.” Soludo had to bring a stop to these illegal activites and that was when he created the Special Anti – Touting squad (SASA).”

The TOAN leader, Hon Ozojiofor, disclosed that “we the union members and keke owners are working hand in hand with SASA and I am very happy for Prof Charles Soludo for finding it worthy to appoint the MD, Hon Monday Nwokoye. Since he came on board, everything is working perfectly well. Recently he achieved a bigger feat by arresting some notorious illegal tax operators at Termsite/Unizik junction and its environs. I commend his service and assure of maximum cooperation from TOAN and its members.”

Hon Prince Ozojiofor however, maintained that the TOAN in Awka are working in synergy with SASA. While calling on the keke riders to always pay their taxes as due and at the designated state government-approved accounts as well as maintain decorum during the discharge of their duties in the state.
