A group of workers who were affected by the sack of non-indigenes in Abia State civil service in 2011 have pleaded with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to reinstate them back to the service.

The workers who were led in their plea by Mrs Ihejirika Fidelia in a release in Umuahia on Sunday, said a ruling by industrial Court in Owerri in October 2020 nullified their disengagement from service by the past administration, while pleading with Governor Ikpeazu to bring them back to service.

According to the group, the sacked workers had been in untold hardship occasioned by loss of Jon, coupled with Nigeria’s poor economic situation.

The workers also alleged that about 50 of their colleague were either dead since their sack or in bad health conditions, noting that their sack made it hard for them to carry out their parental responsibilities like feeding, clothing and paying of their children’s school fees.

Mrs Ihejirika Fidelia’s message read in part, “Go and tell Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to save us from these hard times by reinstating us”
