Oru West Local Government Area Sole administrator, Amb Willie TC Okolieogwo, says the empowerment of 20,000 Imo youths on digital skills will strength the economy of the state.
The Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), stated this in an interview with our reporter in Owerri on Wednesday.
Okolieogwo believes that Uzodimma had paid his dues in terms of good governance which he demonstrated through his human-driven projects especially on road construction, rehabilitation and human capital development/youth rejuvenation.
He enumerated that the 3R led government had in the Cohort 1 SkillUp Imo Project graduated 5,000 youths trained on digital skills who he said were empowered with computers, just as the 15,000 Imolites who also graduated in the Cohort 2 SkillUp Imo Project got new HP laptops from the state government, affirming that the regime is targeting to train 300,000 youths on ICT within 3 years with the purpose of imbuing them with the spirit of creativity, resourcefulness, innovation, invention, research and development so that they beat poverty, suffering, crime and violence.
Okolieogwo hinted that the laudable feat by Governor Hope Uzodimma is the first of its kind in Imo State, South East and Nigeria, saying the idea of the Governor is to make Imo an ICT hub, as well as make the youth employable and financially independent.
The Oru West SOLAD emphasized that the equipment of youths of Imo State with digital knowledge will viably place the state in the global map of world class technology with huge financial benefits, adding that such a positive measure would dignify the Governor and his apostles who are committed to maintain purposeful leadership to edify the state.
He stated that the SkillUp Imo Project empowerment of the 20,000 youths shows that the Governor is solidly, competently, holistically working for the good and progress of the state, stressing that the laudable achievements of the APC led government are engineering peace and security therein.
He reflected that the feat will enhance his chances of winning the November 11 2023 guber election has been created and solidified.
“The initiative is targeted at imbuing Imo youths with digital skills in accordance to the Imo Digital Economy policy 2022 to 2026 with a view to making Imo the ICT hub of Nigeria. This is a no mean feat.
It is purely a demonstration of love and good leadership. This is a milestone which will earn Governor Hope Uzodimma a second mandate to Douglas House. Uzodimma is really a true democrat with leadership pragmatism and nothing can stop him from consolidating good governance in Imo State”, Okolieogwo maintained.
Okolieogwo, an administrator per excellence, was emphatic that democracy dividends and purposeful governance will be strengthened when Uzodimma is reelected as governor in the forthcoming governorship election, calling on the people of Imo State to come out in their numbers and cast their ballots on the election day for the APC guber candidate to enable him win massively and overwhelmingly.
