The immediate past Rector of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Associate Professor Haggler Okorie has handed over to the Acting Rector, Engr. Mrs. Chidinma Ndukwe. Haggler Okorie was among the Heads of government agencies affected by the order of Governor Alex Otti who also directed that the Heads handed over to the most senior officers in their offices.
Speaking during the handover, Assc. Prof Okorie charged her to sustain the projects embarked upon by his administration in the past few months especially the Abia Polytechnic Micro Finance Bank and the Abia State Polytechnic Business School.
Hagler who enumerated some of his successes in the last few months noted that he is happy with the level of change he brought to the institution within a short period and called on the management and staff to accord his successor the same support given to him while he served.
He used the forum to urge the new Rector to ensure that the welfare of the staff remained paramount while wishing her well in her new office. The Acting Rector, Engr. Mrs. Chidinma Ndukwe who described the task as herculean, said she was poised to bring back the institution’s lost glory.
The acting Rector revealed that funding has remained a major challenge of the school and prayed the state government to as a matter of urgency look into it with a view to offsetting the 34 months salary arrears owed the staff. She promised to continue with the projects of her predecessor in order to restore the glory of the Polytechnic.
