The people of Ukwa East and Ukwa West LGAs in Abia State have been described as the most marginalized people in scheme of things in Abia State.
This is even as the communities in the oil-rich zones have nothing to show for their decades of economic importance to Abia State.

These assertions were made by Chief Sylvanus Nwaji, the House of Representatives candidate of All Peoples Congress (APC) recently while explaining his reasons for vying for the slot of UkwaEast/ West federal constituency.

Nwaji, who was a former LGA Chairman of Ukwa West, expressed sadness that there were no infrastructure in Ukwa land to suggest that billions of naira worth of oil were being drilled from the places on daily basis.
He lamented that roads and hospitals in the two Ukwa LGAs are the worst in nature while youth unemployment is still on the rise, noting that marginalization of his people must end in 2023.

Nwaji who also accused some persons in the federal constituency of capitalizing on divide-and -rule mechanism to enthrone unprepared persons as the peoples’ representatives, assured that such unhelpful trend would not be allowed in 2023.

He made it clear that Ukwa East and West were only oil producing areas only in name as the available evidences could confirm that total poverty was the order of the day in the supposed oil-rich towns.

The APP candidate further explained that his choice of the new political party was to ensure that he distanced himself with the political parties under its watch, his people were allegedly subjected to untold hardship and gross marginalization.
He advised the people against selling their votes as doing so would keep them in more years of abject poverty.
