The people of Obitti autonomous community in Ohaji/Egbema local government area, Imo State, have demanded for the urgent rehabilitation of their long moribund healthcare centre.
They appealed to the Imo State government to come to their help by urgently rehabilitating the only public hospital at the oil, gas and rubber producing community.

The people added that when the healthcare centre is rehabilitated and furnished with state-of-the-art equipments and facilities, doctors, nurses and other health workers employed and drugs procured, people of the area who go far away to access medication would be motivated to patronize the healthcare centre.
Speaking on behalf of the community, in an interview, in Owerri, Comrade Chekube Eluke, who was the former youth president of Obitti community, regretted that the healthcare centre, which was built many years ago, being the only government clinic at the agrarian community, has been abandoned by government despite the economic contributions of the people to the development Imo State.

The people, who frowned at the weakness and visionlessness of their leaders, regretted that they have not made any tangible effort to put the clinic to order to save lives, urging the Imo State Government to set up Monitoring Team who will see to the quick and adequate revitalization of the healthcare centre.
The youth president advised the people of Obitti to ignore the clueless of their rulers who he described as selfish leaders who are bent on siphoning the coffers of their community, advising the people to come together to move the community forward.
