  1. The family of Late Chief Samuel Agunwa Odogwu, fondly known as Akunnia N’Amanuke, of Umudiogo Village, Amagu Amanuke in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has announced his passing and final burial arrangements.

Until his demise, Chief Odogwu was a respected father, grandfather, uncle, brother and community leader. He is also the father of the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD.

According to the family, Service of Songs will hold on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at his compound, Umudiogo Village Amagu, near Central School Amanuke, by 4pm. The burial service will follow on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Amanuke, near Afor Market, by 10:00 am, after which interment will take place. Reception and condolences will hold immediately after at Central School Field, Amanuke.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu stated that his late father was a teacher of many who taught in Abakaliki, Amanuke and all parts of Awka North before becoming a supervisory Headmaster and retiring as a Headmaster special grade. He also described him as “an astute disciplinarian and a source of unconditional love,” noting that though “the song has ended, the melody lingers.”

The family invites friends, associates and well wishers to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of Chief Samuel Agunwa.
