The removed chairman of National Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Self Acquired Tricycle Owners Association ( SATOA) Abia state chief Eugene Job has denied any plan by members of his unions to overrun abia state with group of undesirable elements.
Job, who addressed journalists in Aba, Abia state on the issue was reacting to a statement by the state commissioner for information Chief John Okiyi Kalu that the officials o f the prescribed NURTW planned to cause havoc in the state on Monday.
Okiyi in the statement had also informed security agencies in the state to take note of the planed violent protest by the man of the proscribed NURTW and SATOA, led by Eugene job.
According to the transporter, he is innocent of the whole accusation ranging from his unions proscription and alleged plans to protest violently, saying he had always been a man of peace who also believed in the rule of law.
He also denied printing fake tickets as alleged by the Abia State ministry of transport, recently.
Similarly, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has identified the organized transport system as key to economic vibrancy.
The governor stated this on Monday in umuahia when he received the president of Road Transport Employee’s Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Alhaji Musa Mohammed in Government House.
The governor assured of his administration’s commitment to support every good transport policy, pointing and that no economy functions in the absence of a good transport system.
He enjoined the RTEAN members to be law abiding even as he commended them for helping in reducing unemployment in the country.
