Traditional ruler of Abba autonomous community, Nwangele local government area of Imo State, HRH, Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu (Uburu 11 of Abba Ancient Kingdom), says the Ndikpa Abba Water Project, as completed by Ndikpa Development Association (NDA), was a service to the people especially to those who could not afford borehole in their homes.
Eze Maduabuchukwu stated this while commissioning the Ndikpa Abba Water Project, on Friday.
The monarch, who noted that he started the borehole with the intent for people to come there and fetch potable water, expressed satisfaction that the Ndikpa Development Association was courageous enough to enhance the water project by raising height of the overhead water tank, as well as lay pipes to reticulate water to various locations, describing the feat as exemplary and a pure service to the society.
President General of Abba, Engr. Kenechukwu Iwuogo, said that the monarch proactively initiated the water project which was effectively enhanced by Ndikpa Development Association, adding that the feat was encouraging as people would be relieved of the burden of scarcity of water which he frowned many communities face at the locality.
Iwuogu, who was newly elected as President General of Abba, appealed to other unions and wealthy individuals at the locality to emulate Ndikpa Development Association to reduce suffering among the poor, assuring the people that his leadership will attract more people- oriented projects to the community, describing the Eze and members of the association as progressive minded people.
However, Chairman of Ndikpa Development Association, Engr. Ethelbert Olumba, said that about #5.5m was spent on the water project, as he specially thanked Uzoma’s family for being the major financier of the people oriented project, saying more projects will be done by the group.
