Security guru and one time senatorial aspirant in Anambra north Chief Sam Onwuteaka,Jnr, has said that his aspiration to seek election into the red chamber of the National Assembly in 2027, is motivated by a burning desire to help make laws that will strengthen National security and ensure good governance in the country.
Speaking to Newsmen last weekend shortly after the inauguration of the officers of the “City Boy Movement” and distribution of President Tinubu’s palliatives to indigent persons, Onwuteaka who was inaugurated as the Director of Security of the movement in Anambra said he was aspiring to go to Nigerian Senate in the next dispensation to represent Anambra North Senatorial district on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)

According to him, he had been in APGA and retained its membership since formation over 20 years ago but is currently playing an active role in the “City Boy Movement”, working with like minded patriots to ensure the re- election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

His support for Tinubu’s re- election he emphasized was because Tinubu is a Progressive leading a Progressive party and shares similar developmental ideology with APGA which is also a progressive party.

” So as you can see, the Progressives are working together.
“The government in my state with the party on which platform it stands ,APGA, is a progressive. APC is a progressive party. Both APC and APGA are Progressives working together. We follow our Governor to where he goes and there is no conflict of interest anywhere at all as you are trying to insinuate.
” Look, let me tell you. Before you run for the senate seat in Anambra North, you must be focused and determined.
“I have done it before in 2023 without success. I ran for the district’s APGA ticket prior to the 2023 general elections with Chief (Mrs), Ebele Obiano, wife of the state’s immediate past Governor, Chief Primus Odili and others and we gave them a good fight.
” This time around, it appears from my understanding that the same gladiators are on the prowl for the ticket again. The only addition being Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, the Governor’s Political Adviser whom I understand is joining the race.
“But we are ready for them. I have been in the party before them and they know it. They know my pedigree and they know what my supporters and I can do at the grassroots. I am a grassroots politician.
“I don’t play to the gallery. The good thing now is that the new electoral act signed into law by Mr.President has made it difficult to hide delegates again because it is Option A4”, he said.
Onwuteaka said he was poised to clinch the APGA ticket during the primaries of Anambra North Senatorial district and be voted into the red chamber of the National Assembly to make laws that will strengthen national and regional security and good governance of the country.
“One of cardinal reasons for wanting to go to the senate is ensuring security of lives and property across the country. Now, it doesn’t seem to be the case.
“I have been into security management for more than 25 years. I have trained so many groups in the state like ARTMA, OCHA BRIGADE and others.
” I know the nitty- gritty of security personnel recruitment, training and management and know the kind of laws to make to give effect to Nigeria’s s internal security and boost growth and development.
“In Anambra here , the Governor I must say is doing a lot in the area of security and he is getting the applause and I want the people of the state to continue to support him”, he concluded.
