Ikpeazu commends Armed Forces’ sacrifices in war against banditry

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has commended the sacrifices and commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the maintenance of national and international security.

He made the commendation during the Grand finale marking the end of the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at the old Cenotaph ground, Ogurube layout, Umuahia.

The Governor urged Nigerians to always appreciate and acknowledge the patriotic contributions and sacrifices of the Nigeria Armed Forces in the fight against Boko Haram, insurgency,kidnapping,banditry , Armed robbery, terrorism and other forms of criminality.

Represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu , Ikpeazu pointed out that the achievements of the Nigerian Legion in the State could not be over emphasized ,given her commitment in the training of security personnel for churches.schools, banks, ministries among others and reassured that his administration would remain security conscious.

He further pledged his administration’s commitment to security through the sustaining partnership with Nigerian Legion for a prevailing peace in Abia State, recalling how his government had been able to retain Abia’s position as one of the most peaceful and secured State in Nigeria.

Service Commanders of the Armed Forces in Abia State, Chairman of Nigerian Legion in Abia State, Commander Ambrose Nnabugwu ,Secretary to Abia State Government, Chris Ezem, Head of Service, Onyi Wamah, traditional rulers etc attended the event.

A guard of honour mounted by officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces in Abia State was also inspected by the Governor, with a 21-gun salute fired in the air in honour of fallen heroes.
