Political stakeholders from Ohuhu clan in Umuahia North LGA, Abia State have announced their support for the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chinedum Orji, should he declare for Abia 2023 governorship race.
The group during their meeting stated that the Speaker has emerged their right choice for the 2023 game, if he enters the field.
The decision was taken at the home of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of Umuagungulori Ohuhu, Umuahia North during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday.
The convener of the meeting, Hon. Ihedioha stated that “in an event the speaker and our brother, Hon. Chinedum Orji decides to run for Abia governorship, I want to plead with our people to support him.”
“He has the capacity, sagacity, finances, reach, maturity and carriage to birth the Abia of our dreams”.
“The House of representatives seat is also coming to Ohuhu, I also want all of us here to support whoever Ndi Ohuhu projects as their candidate”.
Adding their voice to the call on the Speaker to run, some notable stakeholders from the clan who spoke in support included the member representing Umuahia North state constituency, Hon. Kelech Onuzuruike and a former member representing Umuahia North State constituency, Hon. Emeka Ejiogu.
Others were ex- Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. Chidiebere Nwachukwu, The Deputy Chairman Umuahia North Local Government, Chief Apostle Bob Agbugba, among others.
Before the Friday endorsement of the Speaker by the Ohuhu stakeholders, the Speaker was earlier in the week honoured with a chieftaincy title by the people of Umuopara Clan in Umuahia South LGA.
However, the Speaker has not declared any intention to run for Abia governorship neither has he opened any office for that purpose.
Rather, he has maintained that he was focused on leading the Abia State legislature in providing sound legislative results for Abians while maintaining a cordial relationship with the executive arm in the State.
