The Chancellor of Gregory University, Prof. Gregory Ibe has described as trying times, the death of some prominent indigenes of Abia State, calling upon Abians to go into prayers against the spirit of death.

Fervent prayers and divine intervention, he said would save Abia from further afflictions as witnessed recently in the State.

Ibe said this in reaction to the recent death of Lolo Onyinyechi Agbazuere, wife of Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Anthony Agbazuere and Chief Uche Mpama, a former Commissioner for Sports in the State, lamenting that it was hurting for the State to lose the personalities in quick succession.

The Chancellor regretted that the news of their deaths came at the same period former first lady of the nation, Lady Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi and Nneoha Adanma Okpara, wife of former premier of Old Eastern region, Dr. Michael Okpara passed on.

The academic condoled the bereaved to remain strong in the Lord in this trying season.

“Indeed these are trying times that call for fervent prayers to God to secure his divine intervention and ensure that this kind of affliction over our state is completely averted”, Prof. Ibe prayed.

Deputy Governor of Abia, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu who also paid a condolence visit to Chief Agbazuere at his private residence, described the Chief of Staff’s wife’s death as a shock to the State and all who knew her.
