The workers of Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) have celebrated over the sack of the Director General of IBC, Mr. James Egbuchulam.
Following this development, the staff had praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for appointing a staff of IBC, Sir Richard Nkwopara, as the new Acting Director General of the corporation.

The workers through the Joint Action Committee (JAC), an umbrella body of all unions in IBC: Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Radio Arts Television and Theatre Workers Union (RATTAWU) appealed to the governor to look inwards to appoint a staff of IBC as DG of IBC as they are competent to improve the fortunes of the corporation instead of bringing in an outsider as DG like the sacked DG, Mr. James Egbuchulam who they accused of incompetence and highhandedness.

The staff also appreciated the Commissioner of Information, Hon. Declan Emelumba, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Barr Obiageri Amadiobi and IBC Board Chairman, Emma Dike, for their quick intervention, restoration of peace and joy at IBC.

Arising from a solidarity meeting held at the premises of IBC last week, IBC JAC Chairman, Ike Igbokwe, stated that the staff will continue to support the 3R administration led by Governor Hope Uzodimma to move the state forward.

“We are grateful to the Governor for restoring IBC by appointing a staff of IBC as DG. We are indebted to the management and committed to ensure that the programs and activities of the 3R government is well projected so that the people of the state will appreciate the government more and give it maximum support.
