The deputy governor said the exposure from UNN prepared him to face life challenges without being pulled down by them and described himself as very privileged in life, recalling that he was the first graduate of UNN to be appointed Vice Chancellor of a federal university, not just a vice chancellor, but pioneer vice chancellor of the university.

He further recalled how his university was rated the second best university in Nigeria, out of 36, just after its maiden accreditation by the National Universities Commission.

Earlier in their address presented by the president, Engr Chinedu Ajoku, members of the alumni said they came to congratulate the deputy governor for his emergence and for the numerous successes which their administration, led by Senator Hope Uzodimma has ecorded within a short span in office. They also informed him about the sixtieth anniversary of their alma mater, scheduled to hold at Immaculate Hotel, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, on 11th October 2020.

While appreciating the present government for appointing their members; Prof. Maurice Iwu, Chief Cosmas Iwu, Dr (Mrs) Path Ekennia, Imo Head of Service, Mr Chibuzo Iwuagwu and others into key positions in the state and pledging their support for the administration, the alumni made some requests

The group appealed to the governor to grace their 60th anniversary celebration, donate a bus and assist in employing some of their members into the government.
