The Special Assistant to Ebonyi state Governor on internal security in charge of IVO local government Area of Ebonyi, Hon Ike Cletus Ukpai has assured the residents of IVO community of improved protection of lives and properties.
Hon Ukpai who stated this in an interview with journalists shorty after his swearing in at the new executive council chamber, Ochiudo centenary city Abakaliki, urged the people in the area to be rest assured that insecurity and other security challenges confronting the local government are gone under his watch as the special Assistant to Governor on security.
He noted that the people of IVO local government has witnessed so many insecurity which has claimed so lives and properties of its citizens recently and vowed to use this elevated position to combat crime surfacing the area.
Hon Ukpai said that In carrying out this task, he is not alone in it, “I will partner with security agencies, and other stakeholders to take out criminal elements.”
He further commended the Ebonyi state Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for finding him worthy to appoint him to serve in his administration, assures the governor that they will be no security breaches in IVO community having served on the capacity of town union president for so many years and therefore he apply all the necessary measures to assure that the lives of his people is being protected at all level, he said.
Other stakeholders from the area persons who spoke including Mr. Monday Okorie former commissioner, Ebonyi state independent Electra commission (EBIEC) and the chairman chicken dealers association, Ebonyi state chapter applauded the state governor for bringing in capable hands that will handle sensitive security challenges in hinterland. They advised the new appointee to use his previous experience to combat challenges ravaging Ivo local government.
“We will advise you to apply your experience gathered during your time as a town union president knowing full well that you have what it takes to manage security to your local government and beyond”.
