A 46 years old man, Ifeanyi Atogu has blamed the devil for taking control of him as he is alleged to have raped his friend’s 7 years old daughter who is a deaf.
News Echo correspondent gathered that the suspect, from Ofenta Nsugbe in Oyi LGA of Anambra state was said to have lured the deaf and dumb little girl and had carnal knowledge of her. He was later arrested by police operatives attached to 3-3 Division on 24th September, 2020.
Confirming the report, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, said; “On the 24/9/2020, Police operatives attached to 3-3 Division arrested one Ifeanyi Atogu ‘m’ aged 46 years of Ofenta Nsugbe in Oyi LGA of Anambra State”. Suspect allegedly lured his friend’s daughter who is deaf and dumb, aged 7 years and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
“Police detectives took the victim to the hospital for medical examination where penetration was confirmed by the medical doctor. Meanwhile, the suspect has confessed to the crime and attributed his action to devil’s influence and manipulations.
“However, case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation, as directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP John B.Abang,fdc, after which suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.’
